Participate in our 2024 Archdiocesan Synodal Reflection and Discernment Gathering
Please note: Because of the limited response to His Grace’s invitation, the post-synod reflection gathering has been canceled.
An alternative process is being worked out to solicit written submissions based on the 20 themes highlighted by the Synod.

Process for Participation
Read & prayerfully reflect on the recommended sections of the Synod Report prior to the meeting on March 23 (Read the synthesis report here).
Recommended sections:
The Face of the Synodal Church
5 – A Church Out of Every Tribe, Tongue, People and Nation
All Disciples, All Missionaries
8 – Church is Mission
Weaving Bonds, Building Communities
16 – Towards a Listening and Accompanying Church
Participants may also read any/all other sections, and may bring reflections on those sections to the meeting.
Please review also the CCCB Outline for Spiritual Conversation (particularly Slides 5,6 and 11). We will use this as a guide during our own Synodal Gathering.
Please keep in mind:
- Be aware of the prompting of the Holy Spirit and make notes during prayer, reading and reflection
- Be prepared with a 1-4 minute summary of your prayer, reflection and discernment which each will share at the gathering, in a designated small group
- This is spiritual listening; no responding or debating at this time
- After the initial sharing, there will be a time of prayer and reflection – what spoke to your heart and spirit as you listened?
- Participate in a second round of sharing in your small group (1-2 minutes per person) after the prayer/reflection
- No direct response to individuals
- No debating during sharing – practice spiritual listening.
- Notes will be taken during this round (one flip chart per group)
- After a break (likely lunch) – Large Group Discernment – only if the small group work is done in time.
