In our 2021-2022 activity calendar, the Office of Evangelization and Catechesis is introducing “Pastoral Ministry Month.” The beauty of pastoral ministry is availability and to meet people where they are. How are we able to do this in a post-pandemic world with fewer people returning to Church or recommitting themselves or finding replacement for ministry veterans? A good place to start is looking inward – to appreciate, encourage and strengthen those who dedicate and commit their time, talents, gifts, and resources in building up the community. A scriptural passage that speaks to us about this is First Thessalonians 5:11. It says, “Therefore encourage one another and build up each other, as indeed you are doing.” These past months have been challenging for everyone. Hence, ministry revival and re-strengthening is urgent as we strive to serve God’s people once again.
As medium to reach out to all ministry leaders and volunteers in the Archdiocese of Grouard McLennan, the Office of Evangelization and Catechesis introduced a month-long program dedicated to pastoral ministry. Our goal is threefold: Gratitude Charism Collaboration. To do this, our theme for this year’s program is “The Joy of Serving and Learning Together.” There is so much to learn from life and the recent happenings around Canada and the Church. Regardless of the challenges of today, the joy of Christian service is to be ONE with those we serve. Jesus calls us to be with HIM, to learn from HIM, and to serve HIM in our brothers and sisters everywhere.
The threefold goals address those who do ministry – “who we are” and “what we do. Here is the outline:
PART ONE: 6 Sets of Deanery /School District Ministry Retreats (October 16 November 20, 2021- 10.00 AM to 12.00 Noon)
