Catholic Education Week celebrates the vital role of publicly funded Catholic schools throughout Alberta and beyond. The event this year is set for May 5 to May 10, 2024. May 9, 2024, is designated as World Catholic Education Day.
As society becomes increasingly secular and religious values less prevalent, Catholic parents are in search of genuine, publicly funded Catholic education for their children. Catholic Education Week stands as a testament to
the lasting strength that faith imparts within an everchanging cultural milieu. This significant time in the Catholic calendar is for recognizing the importance of Catholic education, reinforcing community bonds, and seeking spiritual guidance and blessings for what lies ahead.
It is also a time for prayer, reflection, and unity within the Catholic community, including parents, students, educators, school leaders, trustees, and clergy, to jointly honor the role of Catholic schools in fostering the faith and education of the youth. Moreover, it offers a chance for the Catholic community to unite and reaffirm the value of publicly funded Catholic education in Alberta and elsewhere, acknowledging its influence on the lives of students and the broader society.
