This year camp runs through the first three weeks of August. Lead week, for students in Grade 9-12, runs from Tuesday Aug. 2nd until Sunday Aug. 7th. Grade. 7-8 students will take part the following week, Aug. 9th to Aug. 14th, followed by Grade. 4-6 students from Tuesday, Aug. 16th to Friday, Aug. 19th. The Family Camp weekend will be Aug. 19th-21st.
Beginning in 2013 as “Arch GM Summer Camps” until it was renamed “Camp St. Martin” in 2016, this Catholic summer camp provides a week of fun, adventure, friendship and spiritual growth for young people across the archdiocese. The camp is hosted every summer at the grounds of Camp Artaban, near Grimshaw and Peace River. The camp was started by Denis Blanchette with the generous support of the Bodnarek family.
Camp St. Martin includes a variety of activities from short talks and workshops, water games, paintball, campfires, praise and worship music, daily Mass, adoration and “desert time”. All of these activities are directed towards the mission and rule of life of Camp St. Martin: “To facilitate an encounter with Christ in the context of Christian community.”
Campers sleep in segregated cabins with bunkbeds. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is provided each day in the on-site hall, and allergies and dietary needs can be accommodated. Every camper must be signed in and out of camp by an adult, and guardians and parents are welcome to attend the closing Mass at the end of each week. If your family cannot afford the registration fee ($200-$250) there are a limited number of sponsorships available. Please e-mail info.campstmartin@gmail.com to inquire about sponsorships.
