Rite of Election coming up in McLennan

In many cathedrals around the world, a special Rite is celebrated on the First Sunday of Lent called the Rite of Election. For a number of months, a number of men, women, youth and school aged children in local parishes have been following a process of catechetical instruction and spiritual enrichment through the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA). This Rite is also known as the Enrollment of Names. It is God who calls the Catechumens, the name given the individuals preparing for full reception into the Church at Easter. This Rite of Election coincides with the First Sunday of Lent. We also recognize persons baptized in other religious denominations who wish to enter the Church. These individuals are called Candidates.

Join with Archbishop Gerard Pettipas and/or Archbishop designate Charles Duval on March 9th for the Rite of Election Mass at St. John the Baptist Cathedral, McLennan, 1:00 pm start. A lite lunch will be served afterwards. Pray for our brothers and sisters during this time of preparation.
