Dear Youth, Parents, Faithful of the Archdiocese,
After much deliberation and discussion at the Curia, and due to financial hardships faced by the archdiocese this year, and with other unresolvable factors for a safe and rewarding camp experience for our youth, it was decided that the Archdiocese of Grouard-McLennan would not host CAMP ST. MARTIN for the summer of 2025. We understand that this cancellation will be a great disappointment, first to our youth who have enjoyed and profited from the experience in past years and for those who may have been looking forward to a first experience of CSM. We are also mindful of the young adults and youth who attended the camp as leaders and mentors.
The Curia has determined that a Board of Directors will be appointed to review and discuss the past operations of CSM and engage in planning for a fun, more formative and profitable experience for the youth of this archdiocese. It is our hope and expectation to resume the operations of a camp in the Summer of 2026.
In celebrating this Jubilee Year of Hope, a proposal to host a youth event, a rally of sorts, could be held in the archdiocese before the end of 2025. With the planning of ordinations this Spring, the Chancery staff is unable to take on this task, but a committee for an event such as a youth rally will need to be assembled. If you are interested, please call the Chancery and leave your name and contact information with Kyle Greenham, Communications Officer. We hope to establish a committee for the first week of April.
Again, it is with regret that we are forced to suspend Camp Saint Martin for the Summer of 2025, and it is our hope that we can resume the operations of a camp for the Summer of 2026.
Yours in Christ,
Msgr Charles Lavoie PH
