Mark your calendars! Our annual Archbishop’s Dinner will once again be livestreamed from our Facebook page. This year’s dinner is at 6:30 pm on Nov. 4th. (Please note: You do not need a Facebook account in order to view the livestream, but you will need one to participate in the live chat.)

What’s he cooking?

This year the Archbishop will be using his expertise as a chef to create a three-part meal: The main course is Caribbean spiced ribs, with a side of both orange-scented rice pilaf with fennel and broccoli cauliflower salad. We have made the ingredients for his ribs available here, but you’ll have to watch the livestream if you want the directions to cook alongside the archbishop!

What are we playing?

At last year’s dinner we inaugurated an interactive trivia game with our live viewers. The topic then was questions related to the archbishop, testing how well our people know the ins and outs of Archbishop Pettipas’ life and his journey to the episcopate. This time our topic will be the archdiocese – testing how well you know our vast region, our parishes, and churches and missions. To facilitate this trivia game, one priest from each of our deaneries will be joining His Grace to give out the questions. Make sure to watch to see if your parish priest is the one joining the archbishop!

What is the archbishop’s talk on?

With each dinner, Archbishop Pettipas also offers a talk and PowerPoint presentation on a topic of his choice. This year, His Grace will be giving a talk on the life of Bishop Emile Grouard, OMI, the first missionary bishop in our region, who prepared the foundation for what would later become the Archdiocese of Grouard-McLennan.

What about the auction?

Simultaneously with the dinner, we are hosting an online live auction that can be viewed at: facebook.com/groups/agmauction/. Bidding begins at 12 p.m. on Nov. 4, and will go until 12 p.m. on Nov. 5. The auction will feature items donated from across all of our parishes. Each item will have its own post within the group and people must make their bids within the comment section of each post. Contact comdirector.agm@outlook.com if you wish to donate items for the auction!

Since this year’s dinner will be livestreamed from the kitchen at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grande Prairie, in the days leading up to the dinner we will be auctioning off two tables of four to watch the event live at the church kitchen! Those who win will also get to partake in the Archbishop’s delicious cooked meal.

We can’t wait for you to join us!
